Jim Folger, founding owner of EcoTreeNW Inc., is a Seattle-area native who began working in the tree industry in 1991. He first launched a landscaping company serving the greater Seattle area, where he quickly developed a strong expertise in tree pruning and trimming.
After two years in landscaping, Jim chose to dedicate his work exclusively to tree care and founded his first tree service company. From that point on, trees became his life’s work. Over the years, he trained extensively in all aspects of the trade — from working as a groundsman to becoming a skilled climber and earning certification as an arborist.
After decades of faithfully serving his community, Jim fulfilled his lifelong dream of retiring to Costa Rica in August 2025. With careful planning and great confidence in the future of the company, he passed his knowledge — and the torch — to longtime employee Ethan Yang, ensuring EcoTreeNW would continue its legacy of quality, integrity, and service.
Ethan Yang stepped into leadership at EcoTreeNW Inc. in August 2025, continuing the company’s strong reputation after founder Jim Folger’s retirement. Having spent years working within EcoTreeNW and also owning Northwest Woodsmen, Ethan brings both hands-on tree service experience and thoughtful business leadership to the next chapter of the company. His focus remains simple: provide safe, professional tree care while serving the local community with integrity and reliability.
Known for his practical knowledge of tree removal, pruning, land management, and overall tree health, Ethan believes great service comes from hard work, respect for the outdoors, and taking care of customers like neighbors. Under his leadership, EcoTreeNW continues to deliver trusted tree services throughout the Pacific Northwest with a commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Outside of work, Ethan enjoys spending time with his wife, Christina — recently retired from the U.S. Army — and their growing family. He loves fishing, water sports, country music, and the outdoor lifestyle that makes the Northwest such a great place to live and work.
